After artist and muralist JANET SHEARER re-kindled my love of painting and introducing me to acrylic paints, I joined WOKING ART SOCIETY, which proved to be an ideal way of meeting people with similar interests. I’ve learned a huge amount about techniques, working with different media and about art in general at the Society’s monthly demonstrations by professional artists. For my sins, I’m now the Society's Chairman!

I use GOLDEN Heavy Body acrylic paints, which are particularly good for mural painting and incredibly versatile. While I've tried others, I always come back to Golden for their texture and colour quality. An added bonus is excellent support via a very comprehensive and informative website.

In the last year or so I started working in coloured pencils and quickly realised it's well worth investing in good quality materials. Caran d’Ache Luminance and Derwent Lightfast are now my pencils of choice. I'm a member of the UK COLOURED PENCIL SOCIETY, which is an invaluable source of information on techniques and materials.
