From a very early age I’ve been interested in art and, in particular, fascinated by trompe l’oeil (also known as ‘trick of the eye’). But I didn’t pick up a paintbrush in earnest until 2002, when I spent a gloriously sunny week on a Cornish farm with the very talented artist, Janet Shearer, who shared her extensive knowledge of perspective and using acrylics in mural painting.
Since then painting has proven to be a fascinating (if sometimes frustrating!) pastime – and a good contrast to a full time job that involves a completely different mindset and a daily commute
Now lucky enough to have my own studio in the garden, I have a growing portfolio of work with subjects ranging from portraits (animals, people and plants) to landscapes. I work on canvas, on boards and sometimes on walls. I am an amateur in the true sense of the word, but proud to say that I’ve had a few commissions in recent years.
In addition to sharing my passion for art with anyone who is interested, I had a secondary (but no less important) aim in setting up this website – to raise funds for a very good cause. As I’m in the lucky position that I don’t have to earn my living through painting, the profits I make from everything I sell are donated to The Hunger Project UK, a hard-working charitable organisation committed to the sustainable end of world hunger.
I hope you like what you see here and if you’d like to discuss a commission, please get in touch.
